About Invisalign
What is the treatment process for Invisalign?
The treatment process for Invisalign starts with an initial Invisalign consultation with the Invisalign-trained dentist at our dental clinic. We will take digital scans of your teeth and x-rays of your jaw. Using the images, we will design a customised 3D treatment plan to move your teeth into their proper position. After taking a digital impression of your teeth, we will create aligner trays based on your digital Invisalign treatment plan.
Your Invisalign aligners will need to be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day for approximately 12-18 months, depending on the severity of your case. It will be necessary to visit your dentist every six to eight weeks for progress monitoring and to make the new sets of aligner trays.
How long will Invisalign treatment take?
Your Invisalign aligners may need to be worn for up to 18 months, but you should begin seeing results within ten to twelve weeks. Your teeth will move slowly into place over 12 to 18 months without causing you much discomfort.
Please note that depending on the level of treatment required, the treatment duration will vary. An initial Invisalign consultation will allow us to estimate your treatment time.
What happens after Invisalign treatment?
Your teeth should be straighter after your Invisalign treatment. There should be no crowding or gaps between your teeth. In addition, you will find it much easier to chew and bite things. Your dentist will provide you with an orthodontic retainer so you can keep your healthy, attractive smile. They maintain the alignment of teeth and provide them with a surface against which to lean so they cannot shift back.

Do I have to give up food or habits during Invisalign treatment?
You may need to make some adjustments to your diet and habits during Invisalign treatment to achieve the desired results. Here are some general guidelines:
- Avoid eating or drinking anything except water while wearing your aligners. Sticky foods can get stuck to the aligners or leave food debris. Crunchy foods can also damage aligners.
- Remove your aligners when eating, drinking, brushing, or flossing.
- Brush your teeth and floss before putting your aligners back in to prevent bacteria build-up.
- Limit your consumption of sugary and acidic foods and drinks to reduce the risk of tooth decay.
- Wear your aligners for at least 20 hours daily, removing them only for eating and dental hygiene.
- Follow any additional instructions provided by your dentist.
How much does Invisalign treatment cost?
The cost of Invisalign ranges from \$1,500 to \$3,750 per arch. This includes smile design and a diagnostic workup, as well as comprehensive orthodontic analysis and records. The actual cost of your treatment might differ depending on the complexity of your case and how many aligners you need.
We invite you to schedule an Invisalign consultation at Karrinyup Dental Centre. Our experienced team can assess your needs and provide a detailed breakdown of your treatment.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners that are custom-made to fit your teeth. These dental aligners are designed to shift your teeth into the proper position over time, gradually. Your dentist will create a custom treatment plan that includes a series of aligners, each slightly different from the previous one, that will be worn for about two weeks before being replaced with the next set. This process will continue until your teeth have moved into their desired position.
Invisalign aligners must be worn for at least 20 hours daily to be effective. Patients must visit their dentist periodically to check on their treatment progress and receive their next sets of aligners.
Do I need to wear a retainer after the Invisalign treatment?
Yes, wearing a retainer after Invisalign treatment is crucial to maintaining your straight smile. Without a retainer, there is a risk that your teeth will gradually shift back to their original position over time, known as orthodontic relapse. Your dentist will recommend a specific type of retainer based on your needs.
Depending on your case, you may be advised to wear a retainer every day for 6 months to a year, then at least at night for an extended period. It’s important to follow the instructions for wearing and caring for your retainer for optimal results.
